Hi, I am new member, my first post Got hold of a nice E34 with a M20B28 rebuilt 53tkm ago, need to investigate whether it was mapped. My impressions are that it's not mapped (also rev limit 6.5) and perhaps even the cam is left stock. Planning later to put this engine in my E30. While it's running in E34 I want to check it completely and make it better (injectors need to be cleaned, AFM checked).

Will the M20B27 chip suit my 2.8l engine? Injectors stock, tubular headers, decat + free flow exhaust (lovely sound), stock B25 AFM... cam - need to check, but idle is as stock, so it is either stock cam, or mild cam..

Welcome to the Zone! If yours has a rev limit of 6.500rpm, it probably has been re-mapped, since stock rev limit is 6,250rpm. I can supply a chip to suit if required...

Thanks! I'll check once more the rev limit since I was not winding it up, because of the AFM "doing it's thing" at around 5,000 rpm.. Also need to confirm the ECU number, then can I open it and maybe see the chip for any clues. Also injectors need cleaning, as well as AFM to be replaced, which will all be fixed in a couple of days. I'll send you a PM afterwards. Either way, I am leaning towards trying another chip and comparing, since I don't trust much local tuners here and their approach.

Can I ask why the ecotorque has such a high Rev limit compared to the wild/alpina chips?

I have a 1989 chrome bumper 325i which is in storage. Do you need my ecu number still?

Yes, if you can provide your ECU number; it should be 173 or 380...

Picked up a mild chip from Maurice yesterday for my 320i auto - very easy to instal (a couple of hours max) and noticed an instant improvement on my drive home. I'd highly recommend it for anyone considering one!

Hello, the chip arrived an hour ago, swaped the chip and ecu (i have a secondary dme just for it). The car was still hot from a small trip this morning and it started right away like normal however on the first few meter i could notice the difference in low rpm range torque.

Couldnt drive more at higher speed but i can already from a 10km trip, tell the car feel for "aggressive" or powerfull? (dont know how to call it in english), more responsive at every rpm range. Can also notice the engine has a bit changed it sound to something slightly more sexier (well i'm talking of a 100% stock e34 m20b20 so nothing very fancy right)

Sorry for the delayed response (been very busy with work, fixing other people's cars). They are quite easy to fit - see the Zone Chip Fitting Guide:

They work by altering the fuelling map and ignition timing, for a more optimised state of tune.
