If you can tolerate smacking in your bulkhead, you can get away without having to mod the upper part of the manifold, but you will need a custom steering column UJ setup.

However, it would be madness not to have an E36 steering rack fitted as the E30 steering is way too slow to be able to enjoy the car properly with a meaty engine. This is where you then run into problems with keeping the S50 manifold stock.

The lower part needs a bit of fettling to clear the anti roll bar.

I used a S50 manifold on a M50 & then M52 engine, it was a chore but made a lovely noise. The S50 head is about 15mm wider so I can't guarantee you won't have extra hassles.

Some info in here, you can also see where I smacked the bulkhead/ corner of transmission tunnel in.

There are some pics of the manifold a few pages back in that thread.

Btb charge roughly £1500 for a manifold and x pipe and you will need to supply them with a standard manifold. You can not be tight with a s50 if you want it right.
