hay, got the engine in today, all bolted up to gear box and prop with the box and prop in there original position as they were with the 1.8 lump engine mount lined up,, but a big ??? iv seen pics of a lot of m52 convertions but am not always sure what set up there using,, one thing they all seem to have in common is the motor is tight against bulkhead ..

i have about 40/50mm gap and bugger all room up front,,...

can any of you show me your setups when using the m40/42 box
thanks steve.

Realistically there isnt room for a viscous, those that have fitted them have chopped them up which wont help it pull air. You can use a slim-line diesel fan but it wont fit with a standard side tank rad

E36 aircon spec rad is the most popular, fits the space nicely and is bigger than a standard E30 325i rad

Get one with a boss on the side so you can fit a temp switch to work an elec fan automatically
