Head Inserts - Just Wondering

Just curiosity more than anything else, has anyone used these http://www.hutsonprecision.co.uk/automo ... -1183.html when doing a head gasket repair job... Would they be a better bet than risking the standard threads, or would you use these if you'd already killed your standard threads???

Do you think their claim of doubling the strength of the threads sounds plausible?

It wont double the strength of the ally theads but screwing a bolt into a steel insert is better than screwing into ally. If the head bends it will pull the ally threads regardless of inserts
or no inserts IMO

So if you were considering forced induction these could be a worthwhile upgrade.

Perhaps their claim is based on the fact that you are increasing the surface area of the whole thred.
