Haven't read the whole thread but will make a couple of pointers.
On my M50 the bit sticking out from the airbox is a thermostat controlling hot water circulation to the throttle body. I won't be plumbing mine in.
The only reason you'd get a difference in revs when removing the oil cap is if the crank breather pipe is connected to the inlet. If this is blanked off at the inlet then no air is entering at this point even when the engine inside is open to outside air.

My crank breather is connected to the t/b rubber boot,so the revs should alter ?
Tried carb cleaner tonght an found nothing .
I'm still having issues with the coolant .The heaters are cold and the water doesnt seem to be circulating through the wee hole at the top of the rad (under the cap)

Yep, but it might be worth just blanking off the inlet boot while you troubleshoot.shedrool83 wrote: My crank breather is connected to the t/b rubber boot,so the revs should alter ?
I'll be doing this on mine, it'll also let you know how much blow-by is coming out of the engine.

Brought it up the road tonight and i have to say 3rd gear is my fav.Pulls like a train and does put a smile on your face.
Need to get the standard suspension off asap and the cup kit on also need the tracking done .
Still have a small niggle of the revs taking about a minute to drop from aroud 2k to 600 when started from cold tho

Have you got a weight for yours Nick? Manifolds will be on their way Monday BTW
The cold idle seems to get better the more you run the car Jake, if it really gets on your nerves try a few different ICV's

not had it weighed dan, not really sure where to get it done round here. not even got a guess, slightly over a ton i suppose.DanThe wrote:Have you got a weight for yours Nick? Manifolds will be on their way Monday BTW
cool about the manifolds, just needs the exhaust putting back on, the rear dampers and doors putting back on and it's ready to go for another summer
much fettling to happen over the summer of course.

No builders merchants? They will have an accurate weigh bridge

Just wanted to say ,i have had this on a wee run of mixed roads today after getting the tracking done this morning.
I have to say feck me its quick.
Came off the circle onto the dueller in second @20ish .Foot down upto 60 in no time changed to 3rd upto 90 rapid stuck it in 5th and slowed to 70 .Well impressed
Driving the country roads were just as good (the reps did spoil it abit an need to go)The car handles really well and the e36 rack makes a huge difference imo.
I would recommend this swap to anyone .I had a 235bph classic wrx/sti as a daily before i decided to sell it and start this project .And it was quick (if you got you gear changes right )but i honestly think this is quicker it just pulls like a train
As always with e30's there is still bit i want doing but for the moment i'm just going to use it. So will still be adding to the thread.
Awesome totally loving it.
Thanks for all the help along the way and a special thanks to Dan for making this conversion easy with his loom, manifolds etc.

oh dear, hope it's not quicker than mine.
problem with scooby's is you have to keep changing gear, the 540 would wipe most scooby's because it would do in one gear what a scoob needed two to do. i would say my m52 is quicker than the 540 and it kept up with ritchies m5 not too badly at all.
roll on our little drag race.
