air filter heat shield

Just started making a heat shield to house my air filter. I used a wire coat hanger to bend to the profile of the inner wing then transferred the shape to some thin ply i had lying around. This is just a template and i'm going to use black nylon 66 (polyamide) which is pretty much the same stuff as all the other engine plastics are made of. I want it to look inkeeping as much as possible. I'll use the rubber seal in the last picture hopefully to seal effectively against the underside of the bonnet in one continuous loop

Do you need to try and seal it against the bonnet? You could make a complete enclosure around the filter.
Here's my first attempt, the finished one looked the same but with rear enclosed similar to yours.
The enclosure clipped onto existing holes for the plastic headlight backplate and it curved around the rad etc right down to the chassis rail where two little tabs held it firm.
