Sorry if this is already here somewhere, Ive tried searching for it, just finished the conversion and Ive used the wrong one(its blue instead of brown)

Has anyone got a part number for the brown temp sensor for an m52b28?

For the brown sensor, you use a M20 one otherwise your gauge won't read right

That part number is also listed for the 4 cyl engines, I think Beemerlad is getting confused with the coding plug.

No mate, you need M20 brown sensor or your temp gauge won't read correct.

The coding plug is for the tacho

So there are differences between the M40/M42/M20 brown sensors even though they're the same part number? Damn...was hoping to save some cash and pinch the one off the M42!

All the same, and rarely fail. Any second hand one will be fine.
