It is the electronics which is the major ball ache.
Fly by wire throttle and loads of other sensors that need to be working before the thing will behave properly. Not sure if it can be run on M52 management or not as a work around.

you could really do with speaking to the like's of gunni & ant on here as those two should be able to help you out.

I couldnt be arsed with all the faff of wiring extra controllers in and what not for the standard output of the engine, 231hp 220Lbft, there is an american who has had good figures from a standard engine with M52 loom/ECU in his E30 but its took him about 2 years and god knows how much time and money to control the vanos properly, im pretty sure he is now using standalone management and has had about 250ish BHP by playing with the vanos timing
