Hi ,

I have just wired in a 1995 M52B28 into my 1989 320i , when i tried to start it it turns over well but does not fire up , when i was connectiong my C101 to the X20 there were no wires in pin 14 for either, this should be for the speed sensor right? is this why it is not starting and how can i fix please?

also I read that all the un-used X20 wires should be put to a resistor then to ground, please can anyone give me a bit mor info ?

thanks

Bry

you have wired the ews in yeah? The unused cores of x20 i just essentially taped up and tied them into the wiring cover (not quite that crude but it gives you the idea).

Did you use the wiring diagram in the sticky of the engine conversions section? I found that pin 14 on x20 wasnt there either. i made this of the connections i used

it doesnt include the connections for the check control panel because i dont have one of them.

ok , thanks guys, i did not think my engine had EWS so if it has then it is probably that ! it does turn over though, i have tried the fule lines both ways round , and i am pretty sure i had it right the firs time ( fuel pressure regulator on fuel return ) pin 14 is now connected to pin 9

Cook you mentioned wiring the check control panel , i am not sure what you mean? sorry i have only been working on cars for 2 years and this is my first project !!!

how do i wire the EWS then?

First question is "do you have all the matching EWS bits?" I.E. ECU, EWS module and key from the same car, plus an ignition switch antenna and the receiver/transmitter module.

i have the ECU and key from the donor car ,i am pretty sure i dont have an EWS module.....where is it on the E36?

is it definately an EWS issue ? the fuel pump activates when the egnition is on as i turned the key with the fuel lines disconnected just to be sure. and there is plenty of fuel coming through !!

other things it may be are :

power steering not connected up
ABS not connected
secondary throttle not connected

or..........is it possible to bypass the EWS ?
