Can I use the E34 M50 gearbox linkage on my conversion or do I need something else?

Also, where can I get a short shift kit?

Cheers

Stu

It doesnt mention what gearbox is being used, but I suspect it will be the E34 box, in which case no you cant use the linkage unless you chop it up and shorten it as its much to long

Sorry should of mentioned that.

I plan to use the engine and box from a '94 E34 525i

So, is it the E36 325i linkage that I need?

Just been phoning the local breakers for an E36 325i linkage and was told by him that the 320i, 323i, 325i and 328i share the same linkage.

Is this true?

Cheers

No its not true, the 328 upper alloy piece is cranked over at the rear, same as some of the other models I believe, the 325 one is straight which is the type you need

depends on the shell,.. some smaller four cyclinder engines have the hole for the gear stick in a slighty further forwards position in the floor,
i've just swapped out a m50 in an 318is and neither the 2.5 or the 1.8 gearlinkages fitted,..
had to lengthen the 1.8 or shorten the 2.5
i would expect you could buy a kit,.. or just break out the welder???!,...

this was also e36,. not e30,..
not sure but what with this being e30 zone,. i would exopect it was an e30,...?
