That bit confused me too, I just offered up the centre bearing and it all fitted fine, didn't need to reverse anything! Make sure you pre-load the bearing when you fit it. :)

Cheers ! I stood and looked at 328 prop on the floor and could not see a the reason to flip it !
By eye it looked like it wouldn't really move the mounts to body on centre bearing forward or back

To clear this up as it confused at least two of us 8O
I used 328 manual prop with e30 centre bearing !
E36 centre bearing is too wide for the e30 trans tunnel
Hope this helps someone

Sorry yes I should have said more clearly, I used the 328i prop with a new e30 centre bearing the right way round!

Im guessing this was a 325i centre bearing?

Im looking to replace mine as it has an e36 bearing on there and the heatshields no longer fit because this bearing sits lower

I can't remember which e30 one it was, but have a feeling most if not all e30 centre bearings are the same?

Yeah its the e30 centre bearing reversed. Confused me too as I reversed the e36 bearing first! The reason for reversing the bearing is because the bearing mount is offset on the opposite side to the e36 bearing mount. So by reversing it, it lines up better with the e30 chassis.
