Plus i dont know if it makes a difference but these ECU's are 20+ years old now.
I too thought these 172/3/9 ECU's were reliable, apparently not.

Cheers.
Well, ive been using the car all week and its running a lot better but tbh its still not 100% Im nipping to Hi-tech in the morning to see when they can book me in to get it on the rollers.
After that im considering loosing the standard air box
its so close to the exhaust manifold plus the trumpet in the end of the box doesnt fit right so imo it can be bettered, the plan is to build an air tight shield where the washer bottle/airbox sits taking cold air from the headlights also the hole where the aircon sits can be used taking air from the air dam next to the fog light. Ive already got the filter, its a massive K&N about 12' long capable of handling 500hp.

Still undecided about the Exips though, i love the style but i cant get 225 tyres on without fouling the arch

This is exactly what I've been planning. Should work realy good if you do it well.the plan is to build an air tight shield where the washer bottle/airbox sits taking cold air from the headlights

Ive already cut a template out of fibre board, left about a 10mm gap all around and ive got an old bonnet rubber to seal it.
Where's the best place to get pipework, needs to be around 80mm diameter also rubber/silicone hoses?

Dont if its just me but it feels like the problem is coming back, the smoothness has gone out of it a bit.

Its all in your head!
Fingers crossed!
The new wheels look great but 205 stretched wrongness is no good.
Ever thought about relocating the TB the the other side of the inlet like on the B10 Biturbo?
You could then position the air box on the correct side for an E30, away from the exhaust manifold.

It did cross my mind to put the TB on the other side but use a different TB like Andy (Andy335touring) did, but iirc he used some twin butterfly affair from a yank. If i find the thread ill post it up later.
But tbh the work involved transfering pipework, cables etc you may aswell go with itb's.

If you do it don't bother going as large as i did, just go 10-20% bigger.leeparkes wrote:It is a twin 60mm TB from a US Ford V8.![]()

Just got back from Hi-tech Motorsport after the sesh on the rollers and the problem was the air flow meter. For one the flap spring was too tight.
Anyway its been recalibrated and now running spot on.
First run it made 243bhp with the AFM untouched, after about an hour of fiddling it made 257bhp @ 5450rpm BUT it made 285 lb ft @ 4200rpm.
Yes 285 lb ft, it even shocked the bloke!
Ive got to go back down next week to run it again as the print out is on normal paper so next time ill have a proper graph
I do have pics but there on my phone and cant upload them so if anyone wants to do the honors pm me your number and ill send them (short vid too)
Ill update later as to what he said to squeeze more power out of it.
Im well chuffed.
