This weekend has seen the newly titled Rally Isle of Man and with 10 WRC rally cars I noticed they were filling up with Tesco 99 octain fuel which we don't have here on the IoM (max is Total 97). So I went up and asked if I could buy some and eventually I managed to scrounge 20 liters off them into a Jerry can.

The fuel I was given was a mixture of the 99 oct and the 101 octain so I have a question:
Q: Will my 325 track car run OK on this or will I need to make any adjustments to handle this high octain fuel? It usually runs on 97octain with no problems.

Any ideas guys? :?
Cheers
Ian
PS The guys on the WRC stands were stood around where in the classic section with Mark 1 and 2 escorts, 911's, Lotus sunbeams it was buzzing - Give me the old school every time :D

the m20 setup in the e30 doesnt have a knock sensor, so cant retard/advance timing to take advantage of the extra octane!

thats why mine ran fine on the 91 octane in eastern urope (tells you inside filler cap that min is 91 octane)

Tomorrow - Saturday it's a morning track day at jurby here on the Isle of Man so I'll let you know if the fuel improves anything and also the Zone track day chip is in so it's looking hopeful

It may be raining and the Max sport road legalish slicks are on so it may get interesting but I have the Good year F1's if it gets really wet but sliding around is sooooooo much fun :D

Pictures will be on my website soon after.....

I have to say regarding the 99 octain fuel I didn't notice any real difference BUT....The E30 Zone track chip was SUPURB :D :D :P

On a couple of the tight turns I was able to keep in second for extra rpm to power slide out - big grins from a couple of passenges who had never been in an E30 325 before. It no longer has the rev limiter coming in at 6250 it just keeps going, I went to 7000 once but mostly to 6500 which was all that was required

Really reccomend the chip for other Zoners, well worth £65.00

Cheers

Ian
