Possibly both, no way of knowing till you take the pads out first.

Does the vibration only happen when braking?

Sometimes when not braking?

When it starts happening again, pull over a feel how hot the front wheels are. You say the noise is coming from the front passenger side then its likely that that side will be hotter.

If this is the case then the bake caliper could be sticking, quite common on E46's.

Vibration when braking is a warped disc. The humming is either a pad that is stuck to the disc slightly as the caliper is no fully sliding back. Or a wheel bearing.

when did the car have its lower wishbones and bushes changed last? On mine this was the main culprit, but as my discs and pads were worn as well I replaced them all, and that cured the vibration and wobbles felt
