Poor paint, worn leather and a non runner, it will also need brakes/lines and shocks/bushes, and other stuff after 10 years stood,

My moneys on that you'd be the only bidder and for a reason Si. As above really. If this was bought, the C2 would never get finished.

As above - a large pit into which one can shovel large quantities of pound coils. They're quite fast, but nothing a 540i can't do for a lot less £££. The trouble with old shit like that (and the red 325i Auto...) is that there's rarely a shortcut to a good car, and 3.6 M5's aren't shooting up in value anytime soon.
However, Steve's '83 320i Sportomatic needs a paedo. 3HP22 ftw.

You'd probably end up sinking far more ££ into a car worth far less than a later 3.8
It's a shame as this is worth more in bits...

Such a shame owners of these once fine cars let these BMW Greats turn into cars that really have seen better days. No doubt the E39 M5 will be like this soon. I love those turbine alloy wheels on the early models though. I quite like the BMW E34 M5 LE and there are a few good ones left i seen some at Gaydon with some quite fastidious and i presume well-heeled owners. One guy had two versions one in amazing condition and i presume the other to drift in or whatever he does in it.

Do you mean a modern e39 540i or a e34 540i would keep up with a e34 m5 3.8?Andyboy wrote:As above - a large pit into which one can shovel large quantities of pound coils. a M5 is still a M5 there is no other way about it.
I know of a M5 Touring with the V10 in the Kensington and Chelsea bourough and it looks F***ING STUNNING.
