The guy was trying to tell me these wheels are rare and only supplied on 95 Cosmos black cars... i think he was probably full of rubbish but we will see?
Also my logbook says M3 special edition, what does this mean?

He was full of shite, seen them on hundreds of non black m3s. Not as common as the split 5 spokes, but common none the less. Part of me thinks they were the standard non evo wheel

cheers,

They are like a luxury bottletop, kind of. Part of me actually likes them, more so than the 5 twin spoke 'motorsport' design.

they are the sunflower type alloys. As far as i know they were optional on m3 evos only. They are not as common as the standard 5 arm split spoke alloys. I don't know about coming on black cars only have a look on autotrader and they're on all different colour cars.

the only non standard m3s were the GT from 1995 non evo, all british racing green and the GT2 from 99 all bright red evo cars with every extra. I think they were badged as special or limited edition on the log books not GTs. Yours is black though so unless its had a respray its probably a standard car...

Those wheels are the facelift M3 EVO coupe wheels so are not correct fro your M reg car. They replaced the 5 "split" spoke ones which yours would have had from new.......

They're not actually - they're a 3.0 wheel, not an Evo wheel so are correct on the car. The Evo version has more of a dish - and is a nicer wheel imo, even though theres not a huge difference.
Evo version -
3.0 version -

Kdevit, to me they look like the Evo wheel you posted a picture of. The picture isn't that great though.

They're definitely the pre-evo - the centre of the wheel is larger on them. You can tell by how flat the front wheel is too.

Nah - not rare at all, have seen loads of cars with them. They were used on some of the press photos for the original release too afaik.
Edit - they are less common than the 5 twin spoke Motorsport wheel, so I guess that affords them some rarity!

Don't know of any limited editions apart from the GT and GTII, so sounds like more rubbish to me! Thats not to say that a dealer could have offered a certain spec as a 'limited edition'.
This link is good - even has your wheels

Nah, wrong. Both 3.0 and evo had available sunflowers, 5 spokes, and contours (m3 saloon wheels)
I had the same sunflowers on my 93 m3 in avus. Early none staggered motorsport logo ones for the 3.0, staggered and polished for evos.
Both sunflowers and contours are nicer than the usual m3 5 spokes imo.
