Did you buy it from Hexagon?singlezero wrote:Pretty much! I'm the first owner.zd3bx wrote:1500 miles on a E39? Where did you buy it from? A museum?
I was trying to tell you that years ago!Andyboy wrote:I 've heard that chain issues apart, the N47 is looking good on that front. Turbos and injectors seem to last well.

That's my way of thinking as well. My Auto averaged 23-24. Hence when I needed to get a touring, I actively sought out a petrol e61. They suffer enough fucking dramas without adding turbos and DPF's into the mix.Kos wrote:Demlotcrew wrote:You can't convince me Kons, Diesel engines are way better, expensive yes, but a well serviced car should not have many issues, certainly not expensive ones.
I just don't believe that a 3.0d is just as juicy as a 3.0 petrol
I average 27mpg
Alan in his 330d gets about 32mpg
On 8000 miles a year fuel costs is identical
On 12,000 miles a year he will save £200
Over 3 years he'll save £600.00
How much is a turbo supplied and fitted these days should his one go ?? More than £600
So, I'll take the lower mpg and live with the extra fuel cost at 12,000 miles PA and not have the worry of the turbo going, nor the diesel pumps, injectors or glow plugs
Old diesels are bad news in my book
That 525 individual was a nice car. Shame not a sport but a lovely old cruiser.bss325i wrote:I've owed a 525, 528, 530 and a 540 and made money on all of them!
I do like a 39!
Who mentioned e46's?bss325i wrote:Sour grapes Simon!
Agreed, there is a lot of doom and gloom on here, especially with E46's *cough Andy/Trev!
Well looked after but with some rust in the body
Its not as if e30's have only started rusting in recent years is it. That e46 is 14 years old now. I had 14 year old e30 that was fucked out of its brains when it come to rust. Sills, inner arches, boot wells etc.B7 wrote:Who mentioned e46's?bss325i wrote:Sour grapes Simon!

But its not acceptable for an E46 to get that bad for a so called premium car when many other cars of similar age do not rust like BMWs.jonb wrote:Its not as if e30's have only started rusting in recent years is it. I have a 2000 reg a4, there is no rust on that car what so ever. As a comparison to an e30 rusting, I also had a 14 year old peugeot 405 estate with no rust.Blitz wrote:But its not acceptable for an E46 to get that bad for a so called premium car when many other cars of similar age do not rust like BMWs.jonb wrote:Its not as if e30's have only started rusting in recent years is it. You won't see an X reg 406 with that sort of nonsense. That POS wants breaking - if it were a 330Ci I'd give 300 quid for it but not a 325iSE with standard grey leatherz. It's weighbridge fodder.Blitz wrote:But its not acceptable for an E46 to get that bad for a so called premium car when many other cars of similar age do not rust like BMWs.jonb wrote:Its not as if e30's have only started rusting in recent years is it. All the E39 money spinners were pre ML days and none of them scrappers. Trev bought one of them!
But do you see an e46 with terminal rust in the boot floors, scuttle, 'jacking points' and inner arches?B7 wrote:Jon. E46s started rotting at an age long before e30s did at the same age.
I've yet to see pictures of a 5 year old e30 needing new wings.
And that red 46 may well be 14 years old but those front wings did not start rusting last week. They were festeringany many years ago.
The modern stuff is all a bit taxing to be honest. A mate has a 2009 520d manual. With 59k on the clock and religiously serviced by the supplying dealer. Today they are trying to right royally **** him in the arse for a new dual mass fly and clutch. He's livid. Bought a premium product and expects a premium product. He's told them to think again!!
They don't make them like they used to. And that's a fact.
