As title suggests, what should I do to repair the rust problem around my e30s rear tow hook before it kills the car.

I'm not a expert in body repair, but would think, cut the rust area out with a grinder, weld a plate over, then smooth weld joins in, sand then paint.

Unless you cut the old rust out and treat it it will never fully go away.

Hope this helps a little, looks like a body shop/spray shop job either way really if you want the job done properly.

What you will find more than likely is the tray area in the boot will be a bit rotten, so dig out the well in the right rear corner of the boot floor and have a look at the state of the metal in that where it mates to the rear panel.
