hi
it is oxidised paint that is making it pink

you need to clay the car and use a quality paint cleanser to remove oxidisation

t cut is not nice .hard work and messy

go to halfords and look thru meguiars range

deep crystal paint cleaner will do the job

10% of a bottle of Turtle Wax Colour Magic did this for my very pink car:

It was buy one get one free at Ԛ£6.99 IIRC, best 35p I've ever spent!

Jon wouldn't recommend it though so you should probably listen to him Image

If the oxidation is REALLY bad, you can try a cutting compound called

G3 from any local auto paints store

if its basically just a bit pink the Jon's advice is spot on (see his car photo's as proof)

try the least abrasive stuff first
you can always work up to a coarser grade after

its dead paint that is lying on the surface of your piant
this is caused by uv rays

it suggests that the paint has not had sufficient coverage of a quality wax/polish/sealant in the past

make sure once you have it removed that you apply something that will protect it in the future or you will be back at square one

my advice is to use the least abrasive first
if the meguiars does the trick then thats all good
if not then move up to a more abrasive product

no need to take more paint off than you need to
make sure you use quality microfibre otherwise you will put massive swirl marks into your paint surface

Micro fibre? Please forgive my ignorance :? In the past when i have cleaned my car, its a bit of t-cut and wax, not really taken a lot of care....

ok no problem
microfibre is a type of cloth that is available in different weaves etc
these are then used to perform certain tasks
ie drying, washing, polish application and removal etc
if you use a top quality one they will not make any marks on your paint as you remove the oxidised paint and apply polish

if you look at many cars especially in the sunlight you will see swirl marks
these have been caused by application of products using cloths/rags that leave marks

sponges, chamois leathers and stockinette do the same

using good quality m/fibre will not leave these marks

Yeah I got a season ticket mate. Just looked at what ive got in my collection. You could try Autoglym paint renovator (halfords) and see how that brings the paint up.

Goin to have a go at the weekend see what happens? Its annoying as half the car looks spot on the other side looks shite, only good thing at the min, is the rain, cant really tell, but as soon as its dry....... Havent been to match in a while, used to go a lot when i was home in N Ireland, was in a gers supporters club. Bit depressing this year though, hoprfully get better when alex goes, new manager more cash. Goin to win the champpions league this year anyway, so at least we will have one trophy.... (well... maybe not, but its nice to dream)

my brother did his 86 316 last yeay all by hand with t cut - took ages. he didnt want to use a buffer and compound incase he damaged the crome.

if its realy bad try flicking it down with 1500 wet n dry with plenty of soap and water - remember to use a rubber block - then buff it with g3 compound and wax straight away - do a panel at a time
if u cant get a buffer i guess its elbow grease time

the trick is to take your time and do small amounts at a time

ask me bro - took him 2 weeks in all - bit at a time
