Right guys, i've heard cabs are sh*t for bass, but i still want to give it a try.

I have done some research but still need more help.

The sub i have is a Vibe Space 12; 1000w rms.
The amp i have is a Vibe black box bass 1; 650rms @ 4 ohm, 1000w rms @ 2 ohm, or 1250w rms @ 1 ohm.

The trouble i think i will have is getting the bass through the double wall, any advice on how to overcome this? Boot space is no issue, i never use the boot in the e30's and neither is the amount of work required.

Some ideas i've seen/read on revlimited:

"building a single 10 inch sealed box, with a high output subwoofer like a type x, or solobaric. biulding it as low and narrow as possible ( say 11 x 11 ) maybe .8ft2 . wall on the trunk gets cut 11 x 11. box gets pushed through that hole onto the cabin wall, where the cabin wall will have a 10 inch round hole cut. Box will be sealed against the cabin wall. Output would come straight through the seat. how would this work?

Number 1. I would not be cutting holes in the rear bulk, as that is the cabs rear strength.

I haven't done anything to that measure, and on half wack, I have enough bass in the cab to make yours ears hurt.
Build a decent box, face the ports towards the front and that should be enough.

Any holes cut will be re-enforced, come on its only an e30, not like a 1000bh monster.

Any chance i can hear the bass in your car considering your local?

I had a couple of 12's in my old cab in a ported box. The subs were both facing towards the front of the car and the ports were facing out to the sides and this was loud. I only sold these subs because my amp didn't like them for some reason, I think the subs wired together made a funny resistance like 3.6ohm static and must of dropped alot when playing. Anyway the reason I put the ports to the side is that sound comes from the ports and with them at the side of the box will help to fill the boot with sound, which is the key. I also previously had 4x10's in the same box, but just swapped over the pannels with the ports in for a 10" sub either side. These sub were £7 each and sounded good, lol.

But saying that, I also had a RE SX15" sub which was 1000WRMS in a ported box which I would say would be more than enough for 99% of people on the zone. The box was easily removable for access to the spare tyre too.

The thing about rav's box is that he has two speakers acting as one, which I think gives great results. Because it means that the box size is halved. So his box, which I assume takes up most of the boot, to the speakers is twice that size. And more air in the box means more bass out the box (to a point). Also the speakers are more controlled too, so I think it sounds very sharp, but low.

You really don't need to bet cutting anything thats just

With the subs both standing on ends(If that makes sense) the hright of the box is too big to go under the hood cover, iirc the overall hrigh of the box is 15" square, and the subs are wired as a push/pull system.

The last time I did it in a saloon it was with four 12's, push/pull in a 36x15x15" box and that was awesome :D

Looking to do it again if I can find 4 subs for the right price.

Rav you need to organise a mids meet so I can have a listen sometime ;)

It's about finding the "Right" subs though, my subs are 2 x Pioneer TSW 301's which are well over 19 yrs old todate.
Free air one.
Todays subs are made towards a certain box type and can't perform in boxes which aren't made for them.

You need to get as much air out of the boot as possible, need to port it out. I had a hole cut in the middle and port built through it into the cabin, helped reduce rattle a lot.

Just get the boot dynamated, no need to do the whole car IMO.

Might as well do it to be on the safe side. Nothing to loose but might have some advantage. Hows the cab coming along btw?

That lots going to add a lot of weight to the cab 8O

The only real place where you get rattles/vibration etc is in the boot, that's what i've found out anyway :)

Done quite a bit this weekend, just need to order a few more parts from BMW and then it'll be ready for the engine :D

What about yours?

The bass is going in the tech 2, along with a real low suspension; minimum 60/50, its going to be a nice looking cruiser. Personnal, i think its the best way to avoid ragging the car after all the hard work.

The m3 rep has been painted, whenever i go back the paint shop to assemble a bit here and there, the colour makes me smile. I very much doubt that many people on here will like it. Trust me, its a pu55y magnet. :D

Nope, going to try something different. It's got 2 speaker holes cut out in the panel like on yours (pic's above) so try and do something with them. Thinking 2 x 12" subs, monoblock amp to power them and 2 more amps to power the components in the front footwell and door pods and rear door cards. Not going for massive bass in this one :P

Not getting my hopes up but i'm going to try and get VIBE to do me a custom install on the M3 winkeye They done my cousins R35 and he's pretty tight with the owner (his client from work). Try and blag it, say they can use it as a promotional car for the Old Skool fans winkeye :D :D

Not for sale, easy enough to make your own up though :) Port's only good with the sub-box i've got made.

Figure out how big or small you want to cut a hole in the panel and then build a port accordingly to that.

Reckon you could get 2 x 10" under the hood compartment space and then port it out the same way i did, would sound and look good i reckon.

I just realised the layout :o:

I think that should work well and sound good. Similiar to the porting that i had.

This is my cousins R35 and 911 Turbo

Not sure tbh, i've not had a close up look of how they've done it as the car's never around :(

I think the face is covered and sealed.

Did you see the yellow Lambo install on there? That was mental when turned up loud
