double din radio

has anyone ever modified the radio hole to accept a double din radio eg cutting into the switches at the top if so does anyone have any pics

ive thought about doing that but fitting a large bmw sat nav type one like fitted to the e39

i recon you could if you cusom made a panel or baught a european non clock version and got the hacksaw out, you would probly have to move the hazard and rear window switch to somewhere else like the blank where the air con goes and the hazard to where the window cut of switch is or summin

This would need quite a bit of modding as to fit a double din you'd need to go past the bit that contains the hazard switch etc, and also cut down where the heater controls are aswell. It would be easier to fabricate a whole new panel for that, but not sure how you'd make it fit into the original fixings.
Those head-units will also be pretty heavy so you'll want to make sure that you've got it supported properly somehow.
Would be cool to have the double din though. If i could do it, i'd definitely take the double din over my motorised screen.
