M52B28 crank only mate.

Avoid the M52B28TU (twin Vanos) crank, it doesn't fit.

I believe the TU crank does fit with minimal mods to the block.

Not so, I had a TU crank and found that minimum mods will alow the crank to rotate in the block BUT the counter weights are too large and foul the bottoms of the pistons to within 2mm of the gudgeon pin.

The only way you can use the TU crank is to use custom forged pistons and the 325i (135mm) conrods.

I'm worried now! Do have 135mm rods and custom pistons but didn't tell them I was using the TU crank.

Oh well, it's only money  Shouldn't be too long before I can do a trial build and find out for sure!

Non TU crank, 130mm rods and late 325i 8.8:1 pistons. The non TU crank is much more common due to old age and the Nikasil dramas. No block or crank machining, just screw it together. Make the spacer from the M52 front pulley hub - about 20 minutes work in a lathe.
