Probably one of the best cars to use for a conversion mate as it has the larger front struts and 4 disc brakes etc...to start with as well as sports trim, black headlining etc.
You will need the engine, gearbox, prop and a better/bigger diff as well as the usual rad and mounts.
No different really to converting any e30 to run M30.
Also unlike the M40 powered cars the running gear and engine that you remove will have a decent value for re-sale

Looks like there'll be another 318iS killed because of "Bigger is always better" lol
The running gear would be handy for the 318iS touring conversion in the other thread I was reading a few minutes ago

Have a custom prop, not that expensive. Or go M3 prop.
Not sure about mounts.

yeah i thought i would be using the diff end of the 318is prop and the gear box end of the 535i prop welded and balanced.
Or is it just a section cut out of the 535i prop and welded back together.

Think you will need the m20 mounts, the studs pn the m42 mounts are offset, so wont line up with the holes in the metal engine mount.

that's an interesing point theo, could the 318is mounts be used to shove the M30 over a tad? more (some!) steering column clearance is always a good thing

Only reason you'd need the 318is prop is if you are doing a chop and weld job, in which case you will need the rear part of the prop.
I'd try ringing the major BMW breakers across the country for an e30 m3 prop first though.
O/T, any update on the mounts?

Nice one John, got your PM just after that post, thanks for getting them off quickly.
Only difference in 318is/325i props will be the length, so nothing to look out for there.
