the compression of an engine ?
When I fit a schrick cam will I have to increase the compression ?

Yes, the cam will lower the dynamic compression of your engine. I tapped out a big long post on the subject a while ago, perhaps have a search for that.

100% with Alex, the duration and overlap cost you some cylinder fill ( some is blown out.. ) so long duration requires more static CR, a high lift shorter duration cam will have less of a negative effect on the CR.

So how much should I take off the head to bring the CR back up ?

No, I was going to but he wont give me the full part number, I will take your word that its a 304 and not the 284. I was trying to save a bit of money

i wouldn't skimm the head, i can't see a cam effecting the CR so much that it would be detrimental to the performance. I may be wrong of course

as turbo brown said a cam will lower the dynamic compression which can be detrimental to a standard compression engines torque curve.
