I'm planning to move my battery to the boot and fit some kind of expansion tank where the battery was, i also want to move my coil pack from behind the head light to the battery tray so i can try to make the routing of my HT leeds better/tidier.

Is any one using an E30 M3 expansion tank that could may be take some pictures/measurements to see how much space is left too see if i could fit the tank and my coil pack in there ?

How does the tank bolt to the tray ?

My coil pack is apx 3" wide x 6" long for the main body(excluding the plug socket that sticks out) and looks like this..........

It would have been easier if i could use the E34/2 expansion tank on the bulk head but Toby U had clearance issues using that tank on a 335 :(

Short of raiding the scrappies does any one know off hand of a suitable/compact tank i might use ?

Cheers for the info Ant, is the chrome bumper tank the one that sort of sits inbetween the strut top and the engine ?

LOL, i like the use of the bungee(sp?) :)

May be mount the tank in the stock position(where one of your turbos is) and leave the battery tray free for the coil pack ?

Did you ever have any issues with your coil pack where it's mounted ? Was thinking you might be prone to a wire coming/vibrating off ?

Just out of interest where are your washer tanks?

I nearly fitted a Touring rear washer bottle in my boot to tidy the engine bay up a bit, sits in there perfect, in the end I just couldnt be bothered :)

The 324d and 325iX have a washer bottle mounted on the battery tray

If you take the washer tank from where it was on the driver's side and re-route the hose and wiring, you can get it to sit neatly behind the passenger's side headlight and just tweek the old AFM bracket to support it :D

Yep, i'm using the rear one, no probs wiring it to the stalk switch like the normal one, running the pipe wasn't too bad, even though i've got one way valves on the pipe theres a delay of about a second or two to pump the water through.

Another slight plus point is removing some weight from the front of the car, a full tank has got to be 4-5kgs ?

Along the same lines is one of the reasons for moving the battery to the boot and moving the coil pack from behind the head light to the battery tray.

It's taking the idea a bit far or should i say not really necessesary(sp?) but i could remove the PAS pump/brackets/crank pulley from the front of the engine and replace it with an electric pump/res' unit from a Saxo(?) which could be mounted behind the subframe/under the brake M/C.

In all honesty you'd be hard pushed to feel any difference doing these little things but it's a small step in the right direction ?

......any way i'll stop ramblling on.........
