well the bottom end is fine ,the head gasket will need help though in the form of welded head ,with or with out wire o-rings standard gasket ,or mls gasket used with a stud and nut kit insted of standard bolts , you can use the standard ecu with a chip and riseing rate fuel reg but it is not the way to do itat all ,you need a mega squirt /vems or the like

The standard M20B25 will run upto 10psi on standard internals, anything above that and you want an MLS gasket and ARP head bolts/studs. I've seen setups using the standard ecu with a rising rate fule pressure regulator but it'll never run properly. You'll need some sort of piggy back ecu or a complete standalone like megasquirt.

The above is just stuff I've picked up in other threads and I don't proclaim to be an expert.

You can run 400hp on standard gasket with ARP studs.

My friend has been running 1.5 bar of boost all summer long like this on a 8.8:1 compression engine.
He does have a welded head.

MLS is only for when you want your 9.7:1 engine to drop into the 8´s.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

A Megasquirt fitted in an old ECU case and wired in as the original is the easiest
solution to your fuel mapping issue but you will need to add a wide band Lamda sensor to monitor the AFR. a 64 mm down pipe will easy the exhaust plumbing and will not povide too much back pressure.

A small engine bay air ducted intercooler is fine if you don't want to push the boost above what standard engine can reliably cope with 300-350bhp @10 PSI and you don't want to pull the front of your car to bits.

You will need to add a throttle position sensor onto the standard throttle body which is easy.

so, Best of luck

Boost is totally irrelavent to engines durability/reliability.
Torque / HP are the only real factors to think about.

And stock M20´s can do over 400hp reliably.

another thing to consider is that your clutch will die a horible death ,unless you are gonna run barbie power :)
