It drives, only done a couple of little runs up and down the lane so not been able to give it beans, but it seems to go ok. Several issues have arisen - the heater blower doesn't work unless you jump the relay, the tacho worked briefly on a couple of occasions but has now totally given up, handbrake backing plates are rubbing the discs and the front indicator wiring isn't working. Pretty minor issues in reality, considering how muhc has been done to the car.

Thanks guys, a lot of credit has to go to James who has put a hell of a lot of work into the car - and had it in his garage for two months!

We're going to try and iron out some of the niggles today, and then it's off to the exhaust fabricator next week or at least that's the hope.

wow, you don't hang around do you! it looks awesome with the I/C in the grille like that. loving the matt black bonnet too, maintains just the right amount of 'slagginess'. it was all looking a bit too nice for a minute!

I had to paint the bonnet black due to it's incredibly poor quality, you would never be able to get a remotely acceptable finish in white. I'll put up with it though - it's 12kg lighter than a standard bonnet.

i thought black showed up flaws worse than white? that's my only saving grace on mine!

that said, once the roverleggera ring turd was matt black, it looked 10x straighter!

12kg is a hefty weight saving though, and it looks the part in black

Well ive got a couple, but most end with us blowing hoses off due to the comedy lack of hose clips!

There was that time where I ventured onto that private runway the council kindly provided us.......... but we didn't video it.

When boosted in 3rd gear the poor car got confused and the windscreen wipers came on and the service lights flashed at me. That's another niggle to check out!

No pics/vids yet - I still need to do a few bits on it. Ordered a 14" electric pull fan for it today and some Mikalor type hose clips for all the intercooler pipe/hose connections.

Still haven't got any washer jets for it, the H36 has the perfect type but I can't find them anywhere. I'm thinking of washer jets fitted to the wipers - any one got any suggestions - I don't want a comedy bodge involving cable ties etc.

Also need to get the tacho working, it worked briefly but is now dead, I think the 5v-12v signal booster I made is at fault, need another transistor from Maplin.

PAS pipes need to be done but I don't have a local specialist who I can just trailer the car to, and I can't MOT it before the PAS works. I suppose I could fit my spare manual rack briefly for the MOT, then refit the E46 rack and take it to the Hydraulics place. Bit of a pain though.

Need an oil catch tank which is nice quality, so much tat on ebay!

Need an exhaust system and heatshield for the passenger side bulkhead/floorpan. I'm thinking Rivnuts could be good for the heatshield. I've been quoted £450+ vat for a full stainless system with 1 box and a flexi section to protect the turbo when the exhaust twats something.

Need a grommet for the gear shift hole in the tunnel, the standard E30 one is too chunky. Perhaps I should just grind the hole bigger?

I want a nice BOV which can be recirculated, venting to atmosphere sounds so utterly ghey.

Still need to buy a remote bias adjuster for the pedal box.

Once MOT'd it's being fully aligned and corner weighted and that will be that.

Santa Pod on the 20th would be nice, Nurburgring on 17th-20th October is it's first proper test. Wish me luck!

i have one of the 2 litre ones here that was on my RS2000 back in the day, yours for £20 if you want it? it needs a new plastic pipe as it's got hard with age / oil attack.

That's quite nice but I need 5/8" push fit pipes and I think those are 1/2" BSP thread fittings?

they are threaded but i don't know exactly what size. they do look about 1/2" BSP though. when i used them i fudged some plastic 90° elbows in there to take 5/8" or 3/4" rubber breather hose. pikey but effective.

Actually, I might well be interested in that catch tank of yours, I can get 1/2" BSP to 5/8" hose tail adaptors from Pirtek. Do I need flat seat or coned seat?

What size hose do I need when replacing the level tube thingy.

just had a measure up and at 21mm OD on the thread, it looks to be 1/2" BSP alright. the fittings have a concave taper. about 60° i'd guess.

the sight gauge tube is a 3/8" bore and it'll need to be 6" long.

it's a bit tattier than i remember. no dents or anything major but plenty of scuffs. depends on how neat you want your engine bay to look really, or whether you'd want to polish it or anything?

you're welcome to grab it for a look / borrow / offer it up either way though mate. even if you decide not to use it, it's just gathering dust here.

405/6 pugs have spray bars that fit on the wipers and look ok.

405 mi16 92> definately had them. Not sure on other models and ages.

Crossie/Joan - thanks for the input. Just had a look at my 406 and it has washer jets mounted on the underside of the bonnet, so they're no good. I'd like to have a look at the 405 washer jets - any chance of a pic Joan?

The car got collected today by the exhaust fabricators (Powerspeed). They rekon I might have it back on the weekend, which would at least give me a chance to get it ready for Santa Pod.
