so after i bought the 5 series with m62b44 and i didnt like it and had no luck with it and crashed it i decided to make some use of the engine and gearbox.
the car maybe had some mileage on it 162k but the engine sounded sweet and manual 6 speed gearbox was good aswell..

after not realy long time thinking if i should go for e36 or e30 i started looking for a car.
on here i found one with cage (not the best one in the world) ,fiberglass body kit some brakes and sporty suspension for a good price so decided to buy it.

few days later i had the car int the garage and started putting it apart to find out that some of the beautifull rust was covered with filler. actually quite a bit of it.. however just on the back.
Image

pushed it inside
Image

took the engine out of the 5 series

Image

and as much as i didnt like the view of it.. needed to get rid of the 5 series shell

Image

cheked the bottom end for loose bolts as i eard they may come loose
Image

and started the worst job ever.... wiring

Image

removing unnecesary bits
Image

once tons and tons of cables were no longer required we started taking everything out from inside and engine bay.
so shitty dashboar butchered by previous owner. burned engine and old wiring loom

Image

Image

Image

after giving a bit of a clean to the engine bay i thought it will look better in white and rust proofed at the same time

before
Image

and after
Image

after that.. removed everything from inside and after cleaning rust proofed that aswell
Image
Image

and bit of assembly of wiring in the car
Image

unfortunately when i started taking it all apat i founf lots of rust at the rear end so had to sort it out.
(im not the best at it)
started the angle grinder and cut shit load of it out
Image
Image

but in the end.. bit of welding and fiberglass filler made it more like a car that a shit bucket

Image

ok.. so after fixing some of the rust problems it was turn for the engine

Image
Image
Image

it was actually easyer than i thought to put it there.... there is not much space in certain places but all in all good.

done bit more of wiring
Image

and to my surprise it actually worked.

Image

after that i tried to start it.. and i did.. without manifold.. and jesus was it loud.

anybody who looked into the m60/m62 engine conversion in e30 should know that the manifolds are a bich to do with shit clearance.

i gave it a go anyway... knowing that over the winter i will be doing it properly i just made some steel ones to get the idea what goes where.

Image
Image

with all that done it was finally time to put some seats in .steering wheel.. hydro and sort of set it up for my height so its comfortable.. im nearly 7 foot tall.

Image
Image

with this done and a little tidy up i had to somehow put some colour on it as the black red paint was shit and annoing.

ImageImage

and after a small coat of primer or should i say something to rub down before painting over winter
Image

ImageImage

right now im doing some mods to lock and other small bits.
so should be out on the track soon.

it wasnt as easy.. but on the other hand.. wasnt that tricky either..
took me and a mate two months to do it, but that was just weekends and some evenings.
and beiing polish lots of alkohol later and its done.
turn the key.. and it lives

yeah.. manifolds took me a while... but now over the winter i will have those at templates and tig weld the new ones properly.

as for the clocks from 5 series.. its a must.. m62 and all ews stuff...
unfortunately with the way cage was build before for the old owner the closc had to be smaller that that so had to take all the plastics from around it and make it thinner.

will upload some photos soon.
one way or another the cage will be going out and new one and dashboard in over the winter.

so i had a little play over the weekend and did few things.
first it was a mess with lots of switches around so decided to cut a little plate to put all those in order.
Image
so windows lights fuel pump and ignition barel from 5 series aswell as place for heater controls and so on.

then i cut some spacers for the steering improvments
Image
some of them not 100 finished.

as well as modified cluster as the front cover was annoing and odd looking
Image

it does look a bit buchered but will do for now.
maybe some fancy looking display soon when i get rid of EWS

I bought a set of these off the same people and they didnt fit. In fact they still owe me a refund from 18 months ago. We gave up and now make our own instead.

I couldn't be bothered messing about with lock mods, so went for the wisefab kit.
I got sick of replacing e46 wishbones on my e36, and tie rods.
