Finally got round to updating this, so here goes, i had the car about a week and swapped the wheels over to some freshly powder coated 15" BBS with 4x dunlop fast response tyres on. I knew that the car needed body work doing to it when i bought it so after id removed the boot carpet and trims and had a poke about it revealed this.
(The part in the last picture, is that a fuel filler/breather or something along those lines?)
The inner arches + outer arches and rear panel needed replacing, as well as various other bits and bobs needed doing so off to the bodyshop the car went, last picture i had of the car before it went to the bodyshop about 3 months ago
So with the car getting sorted in the bodyshop i started sorting some bits and bobs for it. I sourced a powder coated rocker cover, inlet and a parcel shelf with a blind from Nav.
I then sourced a set of mint original parcel shelf speakers to fill the holes in it
The shelf needed a freshen up so soon went black and speakers were fitted
Got some dealer plates from Pukar designs
I wanted a head unit with aux and usb input but something that also looked original and found this clarion unit for around £50 which is almost an exact colour match to the e30's amber lighting, it looks pretty retro too! Will look like this when fitted (not my picture)
Spent silly amounts at the dealers buying seals, gear knob, bonnet foam and other bits
I don't think my mum was too happy with how my bedroom was looking ;)
The front seats in the car when i got it were from a cabby, so i sourced 2x front sport seats and had them and the rear bench refurbished, now they look amazing!
Meanwhile I bought a nice little 318is, last owner 16 years, sat for the last 10 years, this will keep me busy once the sport is finished!
(I know it has odd headlights

)
Went to see the car last monday, will be getting it back in the next couple of weeks, here is how things are in the body shop after new rear panel, rear inner and outer arches, ive also opted to have the ariel hole welded up as that was letting in a lot of water and i do not use the radio anyway
So thats everything up to date, the car will be back in a few weeks then there is the following to do:
- Engine service and belts
- Fit inlet manifold and rocker cover
- A few suspension bushes need replacing
- Fit speed touch ECU chip
- Remove MHW's and fit original rear lights
- Clean carpet
- Re fit interior
- Fit gear knob
- Fit sunroof seal + rear light seals
- Fit bonnet insulation foam
- Fit brake pads and discs
- Fit black floor mats
- Fit number plates and dealer stickers
- Fit original fire extinguisher and bracket to seat
I also need to source a more standard/original looking back box and a Z3 rack with all the pipes and bits needed to fit it if anybody knows of anything about. Will also be getting new washer bottles to tidy the bay up a bit
I plan to get the car on the road before my 21st birthday in May and just enjoy it over the summer before its tucked up away again for the winter
