**** update 23 November 2013 ****

Exhaust Manifolds now done, Y piece fitted, and Middle Box now in. No Backbox yet, that will be done after the new bodykit is received and fitted. I had a retard moment, thinking the only adjustment on the BC coilovers was to compress the spring, then found out about adjusting the lower nut and so ride height was raised 30mm as it was too low. Brake Servo relocated to under the passenger side dashboard. A Brake Bias Valve was fitted into the rear lines, then into the Hydro. Brakes done, and bled and so the customary Burnouts commenced.

Yeah it was an awesome day, the car went very well, got a couple of things to sort out but nothing major. Checked the lock before hand, and nothing hits anything, but found on track wheel hits either the wishbone or chassis preventing full lock and acting like a brake on that wheel making me spin. So either need a 20mm spacer or better offset wheels.

I was also drifting with a flat drivers side front tyre for most of the day without realising it. Destroyed a wheel, and can only think it must of been done on west track on my 3rd lap as thats only time I cut a corner.

I learned you just cant put 300bhp thru 205/55/16 tyres with 2mm tread in the wet. 4th gear from 3k revs effordless drifting.

Here's a few Video's

Notice the flat tyre lol

Pictures.
Looks like bits of wheel behind me.

4th gear even in the wet produces smoke.

Oh does anyone know what temperature its supposed to run at? I'm using almost 100% Antifreeze, got 2 digital temp gauges, 1 as water enters the radiator which was often showing 105c, and other on exit of radiator show under 80c. I heard these run hot, but kept thinking over 100c is too much even tho 100% antifreeze wont boil til 150c.

Looks reet council :)

It will probably be the antiroll bar touching the tyre
100% antifreeze wont be doing you any favours at all, 50% max

Council people couldn't afford this mate. 8O

What Antiroll Bar, I aint got any at all. lol

100% antifreeze was recommended to keep temps/pressure down when drifting at high revs.

I'm think I need to take the temperature reading from the centre of engine, maybe the allow block thing at back of engine as I would assume taking the temperature as it enters the radiator will be the hottest place possible, so 105c could be normal there, but much less elsewhere?

You don't want to be using 100% antifreeze. No one does in real motorsports

Anyone tried EVANS waterless coolant?

http://www.evanscoolants.co.uk/

Just wondering if anyone has tried it and could recomend, cause it looks like a good stuff, has a boiling point at 180 degrees thus no pressure in the system and no steam pockets in cyl. head

Its really expensive, Japspeed cars use it in BDC, £65 for 5 litres, v8 takes about 11 litres I think.

Looks like I got the 100% antifreeze wrong, as antifreeze makes the engine run hotter. Best cooling is 100% water, 50/50 mix is about 12 degrees hotter than 100% water. Also I'm using a 1.5 bar radiator cap, so 100% water wont boil til it gets to 112c. So looks like I might try 100% water, and see what the difference is.

I'm not a fan of the Evans stuff we had all sorts of problems when running it at the Silverstone 24 in a Mosler.

Yeah its a good video. Looking at the videos and pics I was doing quite well. Surprised at some of the speeds I was getting out of the last corner. Didn't feel like it when driving, but it was 4th gear around 6k revs. lol

Still having slight issues with wheel rubbing the wishbone preventing full lock
So I added a spacer to the front wheels.
Had a bit of a test session yesterday on private land.

This now needs an update after last weekends Extreme Torque Show.

I had a "little off" lol during the practice session, 4th gear 5k revs ish, rear hit fence bring the front in which only glanced the fence as rear sprung round again ending up in a ditch.

Done quite a lot of damage:-

However the main rear beam mounting points appear to be fine and not been moved.
Image
Image

To make it driveable again, aslong as the mounting points are fine I need rear trailing arm for 5 stud, and a driveshaft which snapped. The rest can be pulled/cut out replaced and reinforced. It really needs a reshell, which is my longterm plans for it, but for now hoping to simply get it ready to skid again as a missile car. ;)

I replaced the rear trailing arm and driveshaft yesterday, so now the car is moveable and skidable again.
Looks reasonably straight.

Kicked the passenger door open, not it wont close lol

More photo's of the crash have appeared.
I hit the drivers side rear quarter on the fence in 4th gear at 5k revs. Not sure if driveshaft snapped mid corner or during the crash.
These pics show what happened next.

Shame but, suppose if you do drifting for long enough the inevitable happens beit through mechanical failure or going past the limit.

As you say it needs a reshell but aleadt you have it drivable again and some argue when you know something is fooked you have more fun with it because your not scared of scratching it. :D

Yep its getting reshelled, not taking the risk competing again with this car, that's a lot of damage and I'd rather be safe. Quite surprising that I got out the car without a mark, not even a bruise.

Thanks to Magpie on here, I will have a 2 door iS shell very soon.
