even under a tarp outside moisture is a killer. i had an e30 laying under a tarp for a good while outside my unit and it was in ok nick untill i pulled it out again and it was a rusty mess with a siezed engine and brakes with fungus galore in the car :(

be intresting to see what the cause is.

on to bigger and better mate.

Yeah, i'll inspect it properly when its daylight again. It'll be a long rebuild process anyway becuase im happy with my 2.8 at the moment and i don't want to be throwing money at the engine all in one go when i've got a perfectly good one there already

yup the 2.8 is really good in the e30 anyway especially with the m50 manny on it to get that extra bhp and the sound makes me smile still to this day.

If you look at the inlet valves you will see that cylinder is the only one with them open, thats how the mess has got in there. Ive had loads of engines people have left lying on the exhaust side with manifolds off and one or two pots have always been manky. One was so bad the piston had seized into the bore.
Anybody reading this about to store an engine, especially outside, leave the manifold on with the throttle shut

Bare in mind that the engine has been turned over so the valves might not of been in that position all along. And the manifold was removed for the m52 with rags covering the orifices. Not that it bothers me too much becuase the engine was going to be scrapped anyway originally :chuckle:

3.2 24v goodness yum yum.

what power figures are guys getting from 3.0 and 3.2 m5x lumps or what potential can be expected from them in various build configurations just as a wide overview of what to expect.

A bit of a discussion here - http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... sc&start=0

I've also noticed this on e36coupe http://e36coupe.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... 09c91f7564

On the last page of the second link a chap has an m50 with M54 crank, rods and US 3,2 M3 pistons, and a TB from BMW 4.4 V8 together with M3 evo injectors and custom mapping and the dyno readout shows 249.1hp @ 5.6k and 252 ft/lbs @4.4k

After another rolling road day yesterday i got to see what difference the manifold has made. 213bhp and 213ftlbs, not bad really. The dyno operator made a comment that the cars could be underperforming becuase it was soooo cold (overfuelling to compensate the easily -1 degree conditions!) Im still happy, a 330i e46 only made 212bhp on the day so i cant complain. Its not running 100% either with symptoms similar to beemerlads.
I dont have a picture of the graph yet but the torque is flatish until about 3.5k where it starts rising nice and smoothly.

And on the way there i successfully bent a rear damper - fucking hero

Anyway, got a few pics on the way home with the new camera...

Car looks great as always! What lens did you use?

I'd happy if I got similar figures with my engine and just a m50 manifold..

I was going through some bits and pieces for Eko today... and noticed that i've had my b28 in for a couple of days over a year now 8O Its gone so quickly!

On the bank holiday next week the plan is to change the rear suspension, give it a service and change the electric fan :D

Went to change the electric fan today. Decided to do the front valance removal method instead of removing the radiator.

Removed it all, went to fit the new electric fan and low and behold its alot thicker than the old one and it wont fit. Nailed it all back together and went out instead :chuckle:

It'll probably be giving it a service tommorow and change the rear suspension. I've got all fresh bmw oil filter + air filter, ngk plugs and castrol oil amongst various gaskets i want to change too.

Cheers bud! Im going to the devon car show at smeatharpe - http://www.devoncarshows.com/index.html . I'll be on the clubstands with TQModified again.

I'm going to the dakota drag and drift day too (which again, will probably be on the TQM stand and im trying to get a press pass again). Meant to send a Few PM's about it too actually!
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... ght=dakota

Well i jacked the car up and span all the wheels - no unusual noises. Took it for a blat down the road and back and its fine - no nosies! Must of been a stone between the disc and pad. I did notice that the fuel pump is becoming rather audible from the outside - might a sign that its starting to fail.

I'll have the throttle body on for the next rolling road day. There have been talks on the TQM facebook page about another rolling road day coming up.

Two coats of Zaino Z2 Pro with the ZFX accelerator
