Update Sun 08/11/09

Well DanThe popped around today to get things progressed, engine now removed along with gearbox, prop and exhaust. ABS pump removed too, wont need that anymore, need to get that brake servo out as well, its a little too big !!! winkeye.

Need to degrease engine bay and remove a few more bits and pieces before hopefully it goes to the bodyshop in a few weeks time.

I'll let the pictures do the talking.

New drivers side wing and bootlid fitted thanks to dave318 for the parts and DanThe for getting them when he popped down to see Dave, my bootlid and wing were looking a bit too crusty in places for my liking :D :D

Image

Image

Heres home for both the moredoors, you can see the 84 moredoor nice and snug under the covers, dont worry it hasnt been weighed in, just waiting its turn :D :D

Image

Thats all for now, busy day today, thanks again Dan :thumb:, not much to remove now then its time for paint, thats the next job to get done :)

Good grief diddler you don't do things by halves do you !

Can't believe you've pulled apart a car which already was cleaner than most of the E30's left on the roads 8O

Looking forward to seeing the finished product - hope you're gonna pull your finger out with the Henna one soon

Indeed, I spy Dan H's bonce in thy engine bay. Fair play paul, you are a psycho, but in a good way. When you're bored of your two moredoors, can I deposit mine on your drive and write a cheque? Do enlighten us on the engine plans - am I right? M5X hybrid?

Great news thou today, car now has confirmed booking at Beardmats body shop on 11th Jan 2010 woohoo........ .

Just need to get my finger out, get the underside sorted and rear beam back on after refurbishment, that little lot will keep me busy for a while over Christmas.

Here's a few piccies of the underside after cleaning......

Thats what i thought, however its just black paint, probably to hide the wheel well from view, no horrible underseal to remove, just plenty of crap to wash off :( :(

Combination of Meguiars Super Degreaser

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/meguiars- ... p?cPath=48

and this Surfex HD All Purpose Cleaner/Degreaser

http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/surfex-hd ... p?cPath=48

50/50 mix with water did the job with various old paintbrushes, washing up brushes(bristles a bit stronger), and old toothbrushes, ohh and lots of scrubbing........

Does this look like North Oxford garage parts desk?

Saying that I think the Alpina needs a full stirp and rebuild on the engine or I am seriously thinking about getting a B6 engine of some description put in it.

Little update for you......

I took the wire wheel to any signs of split factory underseal/rust.

Lots of little repairs, However its amazing how far the rust spreads underneath once the underseal splits 8O 8O

Heres a few after:

1. Remove old underseal, grind rust down
2. Apply "Krust"
3. Apply Zinc Primer
4. Apply Seam Sealer

Ignore the bottom of the arch, move along no rust to see here!!!!!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

And a couple after having a play with some primer, lots more to get painted and finished :D :D

Image

Image

Image

Still lots to do underneath, before all the new goodies can be fitted winkeye

Good day today got loads done, so as i am retro-fitting A/C out with all the interior, dash and heater box 8O 8O

Image

Knew these were fooked, new ones coming from stealers

Image

Yet another hole for Matt to fix, exact size as the square factory jack pad, hope he isnt looking at this thread yet :( :(

Image

So, only 4 weeks until its off to the Bodyshop, need to get underneath 90% finished, Matt hopefully will sort the rest, and get new rear suspension fitted so we have a rolling shell

Thats it for now :D
