Thanks to the group buy and the excellent work of BTB/ Joe, my BTB 3 6 branch and cross pipe arrived today.

Now my BTB manifold has had the Cliffy touch :bling: I blame Joe for this as he contacted me and said about having the primary’s polished as it would tie in with my engine bay and im well pleased I went with.

This is a piece of art

Dare i say it.....

Thats big money spent for a small gain in horsepower.

The hottuning one shines up better anyway.

I would say the gains are excelent when you consider a 2.7 gives little more but cost ALOT more!

actually done properly a 2.7 should make 230 +, if do a cheap one would make 180-190with craploads of torque for less than a stainless btb, also those who put on a 6branch regardless of make would put on a stainless system, upping the cost to about 1-1.5k depending on system.

The hottuning debate has done the rounds as have the is, 325 sport over 325ise, if you have crap loads of cash good for you, others who dont want to spend 1000's on their cars, but want a hottuning so be it , and if people don't like them so what. They are a copy of the btb and a 1/4 of the price, and i got one from a recomendation from someone on the zone, and i doubt many know more about e30's here on the zone, and before it's said i know the quality isn't the same but its not worth 4 times the amount
if there wern't people like me,
with cars like mine,
who would you put down to make yourself feel better?

Thorny subject I know, but can't we all accept that 'you pays yer money and takes yer choice'? A BTB manifold is quite clearly the 'ultimate' in terms of these components and comes with considerable cost as a result. The Hottuning item is a cheaper product, and dependent on your own priorities as a consumer and your choice of budget for such an item, may or may not represent better value for each individual. It seems there is, rightly or wrongly, an antipathy between satisfied customers of both items due perhaps to the terms used in previous debates on the subject, but can it not be accapted tha there are as many opinions as there are sets of circumstances?

As I understand it, the 'BTB3' is the only 6 branch manifold available that can be used in conjuction with a RHD z3/e36 quick rack so, whatever the cost implication, there is no alternative anyway for those requiring both.

good honest R&D comes at a price.

to support that, BTB do reduce their prices in line with mk, volume sales, and unit production cost.

Expensive, but..... you get exactly what you pay for in this instance :)

The most powerfull 2.7's on the zone ie the ones circa 230bhp cost alot more than the £650 a BTB2 costs and even a cheapo home build 2.7 costs alot more than £650! To build one PROPERLY without reusing old shells, pumps, rings etc would cost the thick end of £1500.

Its also widely regarded that stainless exhausts give little or no gains over a standard genuine BMW exhaust and as you can use a standard 3 peice BMW exhaust with the BTB2 there is no need to spend the extra £400 or so on a stainless exhaust.

Fact of the matter is that the BTB2 give the best gains on its own for a bolt on item. A chip will give 5-10bhp and similar torque, a cam on its own not alot as it needs a chip/remap to work and a stainless exhaust 2-3bhp if anything at all.

Remember, 15bhp and 20lbft from the BTB2.

I've said all i need to in the past about the HT manifold.
