my M30 conversion I'm running a E28 535I rad and a large push fan...
if I put a thermastat in my car it runs too hot! and temp keeps on slowly rising!
any ideas? thanks.

Just one hole is needed. About 2mm diameter and at the top. It just helps bleeding air out.
A lot of owners of K Series donks do this - it prevents a thermal shock when the stat opens and dumps cold water into a hot head. Apparently.
