The central locking on my chrome turd has been intermittent for a while now.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
On occasions you can hear a bit of a groan coming from the relay down in the driver footwell.
When it plays up, it doesn't matter which lock I try, such as boot lock etc etc.
Anyway, the drama came tonight when i went to put some fuel in, as the fuel filler flap is locked and short of getting a bar onto it, I ain't getting it open and am nearly out of fuel.
Is there any quick fix for this?
It's pishing with rain at the mo so I can't be arsed getting soaked and the interior getting soaked swapping out the relay.
Cheers
Lee

You can unlock the fuel flap by hand after pulling the boot carpet to the side

you're on about the rear wing trim I guess (don't mean to be pedantic) but yes, peel it back and manualy operate the actuator.
If all else fails, it appears this method works a treat

Cheers mate, got it sorted. The trim panel was a major pain to pull clear.DanThe wrote:You can unlock the fuel flap by hand after pulling the boot carpet to the side
Cheers Will, I'll get the red/black wire mod done as I haven't done it to this car yet.willnz wrote:Have you done the red/black mod Lee? It normally makes that squeal when the power to the unit is weak.
You can get in as Dan says.
If you are lucky, you might still have the OEM rubber cable thing which was installed to allow opening of the flap without having to pull the boot lining back.
Indeed, although I'm glad I wasn't in a 2dr as I think it would have looked like that.Rav335uk wrote:Barx325i wrote:you're on about the rear wing trim I guess (don't mean to be pedantic) but yes, peel it back and manualy operate the actuator.

The bucket seat saved my bacon, but the B pillar being where it is on a touring compared to a 2dr also took the impact a lot and stopped it from becoming a banana

luckily my H23 project is 4 door based.. the extra 25kg in the right place I think..
I was prodding a 2door the other day with a spannered b pillar, the whole side was one great flexible sheet. Really, really, not good..

There's a slot cut in the trim to pull the flap back without pulling the trim back.E30BeemerLad wrote:Cheers mate, got it sorted. The trim panel was a major pain to pull clear.DanThe wrote:You can unlock the fuel flap by hand after pulling the boot carpet to the side
