noises and vibrating?
Moderator: martauto
right the other day my car started to rumble and judder a bit around 2000rpm and my gearknob would vibrate, then i was driving along in 5th and the gear shift linkage came off at the gearbox end and i had to find my way home in 5th. put it back on and my car seemed to be a bit better but now its just doing the same? the noise is worth when its in 5th?
thanks aiden

A stab in the dark but.... has yours been fitted with a short shift at any time?
If so, the linkage between the shifter and the g'box can be very close to the prop which is why a slight bend in this linkage is necessary.
It may be that your prop bearing or guibo is starting to wear out and the extra movement in the prop has caused it to start hitting the linkage...

Also sounds like your rubber donut bushing failing, you need to get underneath and remove the exhaust heat shield and give the prop a wiggle and check the donut - in between prop and gearbox - if it has bits of rubber missing then replace, requires exhaust partially off, no need to change the prop, just be careful when you split it to put back in same spline. Also worth to change centre bearing while it's up and exhaust is off.

Hang on a minute so this all started after you did some work on the car? I suggest you go over what you did and double check everything you did.abeazer wrote:its a 325 manual and the gearbox mounts looked ok i checked them last week when i put the linkage back on
