Well, having had a heavy weekend of drinking at a beer festival, I decided that this afternoon was the perfect time to replace the rubbery disc in the prop shaft.

We didn't re-attach the prop last week when the engine went back in so I bolted the disc onto the 'box and then tried to retract the splines to make the prop go on.

There's about 1mm of shiny spline on show so it's obviously moved at some point fairly recently, but it won't budge either way now. Haynes says not to seperate the two halves too :(

Is there something I need to do with the threaded collar on the front half or something?

Cheers!

Slacken off the collar and she'll slide no worries Alex, use a screwdriver in the centre coupling to help with undoing it.

In the picture the furthest arrow on the right is pointing to the collar thing that holds the spline, you can't see very well from the picture but part of it is hex sided. It will probobly be to big for your average spanner or adjustable spanner so you will need some "grips" of some sort to undo it.
