its not the fact that its a replacement roof ..if you were like me you didn't replace the tensioner straps so they only half do the job as they are definitely tired...but also have you checked the side wires to see if they are ok ...this can cause problems and you wouldn't know if they were broken

no8 ...it runs through the edge of the roof

I am going to be attempting this solution on mine as have also been living with it for years!

Does anyone know what the function of part 33 is in the diagram linked to above?

Thanks Dave, can you explain how? The loop in one end of the rod presumably does something and I'm not sure what/which way around it should be!

Any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks

the loop holds it to one of the tensioner straps...doesn't matter which way round ...someone made one with two loops (presumably bent it after it was threaded through) good idea as it always seems to move

Just ordered a new wire from BM and will be crimping tonight, one question, I don't have the second fabric step shown in your picture, it looks like a cosmetic cover for the main straps is that right?

Top banana! Just tried the wire crimp thing and it works a treat, thanks. I always push the bar, second from front, rearward on its over centre link. This seems to work but should that happen anyway?
