When I took the door card of to repair central locking I noticed that there was some wet 'mush' in the base of the door. Is this normal or should it be bone dry?

Hoover it out and make sure the drain holes are open, and check the seal at the bottom of the window has not gone stiff.

Was looking for drain holes-Were they in the corners where there is a break in the weld?

worth replacing the external rubber/felt trims which sit on top of the door panel where the window slots into if they're passed their best

a mate had a mk1 golf with trims so bad the water would come through the door cards

some water is bound to get past the weather sprips, should go out the bottom drain holes tho. make sure the plastic membraine thing in the door is in good nick and well stuck on (areosol spray glues best) or that water will come in the car.
