You can't bore it out to 3 litres, there's not enough metal between the cylinders to do it.
You could bore it out a little but would need a longer throw crank and rods, pistons etc to get close.
Cheers,
Iain T

Nothing really, and still retain reliability. Fire rings on the gasket are nearly touching each other as it is.

When you consider the exchange rate, about a grand is actually a pretty good price for what you're getting!
If you're talking about proper mods, you've got to realise it's gonna cost proper money. It's a bit different from bolting a K&N on and expecting the 10bhp gain they state on the box.

Ooh, that Ireland Engineering site's a dangerous place!
Anyone know what the stroke of their 2.9 is? Quite interested in their bit about you being able to spec any bore and CR too, and having the option for stonger rods for another $600 is pretty appealing too.
Hmmm, ignoring tax and shipping that's only £1160 for an all steel bottom end and forged pistons!
To say I'm tempted is an understatement!

They certainly sell some awesome stuff.
The best thing is to call and speak to Jeff. It's not too expensive to call the states but bear in mind the 5 hour time difference.

Just sent them an email about the bore and compression options
God I wish I hadn't seen that site!

The 3.1 stroker kit has an 89.6mm stroke
That's gonna be one slow revving motor.
'performance beyond a E36 M3' I think not
Cheers,
Iain T

Says you keep the 135mm rods for all of those kits though doesn't it?
The gudgeon pins must be miles up the pistons!

All the info's in Steve's post at the top mate. Stock M20 block and pistons were used.steveyboy wrote:adam could you send me some info on your 2.8 , wat block you used , pistons crank rods etc
For the money it costs to do this you're better off putting an M50B28 engine in, 24valves too!

I emailed Jeff at Ireland to ask about the pistons and he said you can have them in any bore you like so if you're anal enough to have a 2 litre block bored out to 84mm (and I am), you can use bits designed for the 2.5 engine such as head gaskets and the like.
Does only give you a 2.8 if you get their 2.9 conversion though.
