Un-blocking Sunroof drains.
Moderator: martauto
Hello, Looking for some advice please. My Sunroof is leaking has anyone got any tips for unblocking the back two drains?! The front ones are easily accessible, but I think I need to unblock the back ones?! I get the impression water isn't draining away fast enough. When i drive it starts to drip.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I'd use an airline from the sunroof to blow any blockages out. If that doesn't work, try some wire a hook or something similar and try from where the drains exit in the rear if the car.

The plastic parts in your rear wings. You'll see them in your boot, behind the carpet.

Unless you regularly park with the sunroof open, I fail to see how a sunroof drain can ever get blocked. You can run something like TV coaxial cable or BenHar's strimmer line up through them, but I fear the word 'rust' will eventually figure in this thread.
Was afraid of that. The outer edge of the sunroof is somewhat bubbled with rust, but the inner gutters running to the drains are in good condition, maybe the water is not reaching the guttering?! Thanks for your help.Brianmoooore wrote:Unless you regularly park with the sunroof open, I fail to see how a sunroof drain can ever get blocked. Where does the water drip in?

Exactly how my sunroof issues started out, turned out the roof lining was holding the sunroof cassette up!!! 3 years later, a new sunroof cassette and multiple other panels and repairs its finally going back together, Good luck
The water seemed to be coming in below the stainless steel surrounds. I have tightened the screws, they were very loose, kind of hoping. the strength of rain we have been having didn't allow the water to drain sufficiently overflowing under the stainless surround....I know I am clutching at straws, sooner or later the carpet will have to come up to locate the source or sources!
It was dripping from the roof lining inside of the sunroof onto our heads. Passenger side mostly.Brianmoooore wrote:Where does the water drip in?

You need to pull down the door rubbers and peel back the headlining on each side where it attaches to the door aperture and have a look , you will then undoubtably see the source of your water leak
