Hi A have fault that has developed today the car was working fine after a short drive, the car turned off and when trying to start it again it only runs for a few secs and then turns off despite putting having the accelerator pedal depressed fully.

There is plenty of fuel and it sparks when it turned over. I have changed the idle valve that made no difference.

Any ideas what could the problem here? any pointers/help greatly appreciated.

Check the fuel pressure regulator, it might be broken. Disconnect the hose that goes to the intake manifold, if it's full of petrol, the pressure regulator diaphragm is gone.

Don't go swapping or replacing anything until you've done some diagnostics first. Go through this chart to help:

Yes, Grrr is right, you could have also a big air leak or any other fault. It is best to check like in the diagram
