hi all currently converting my 318i auto to m20b25 manual one problem that i have come across is that speedo i removed from auto box i can't find a location on the manual unit.

gearbox in question is a getrag 260,all i can find is the reverse switch on the side.

hopfully someone can help :)

i've got plug that goes to the rear diff too,so a bit confused lol

as you car was an auto the plug you have might be for the inhibitor switch if this is said plug you will need to sort it out if not it will not turn over when you try starting it.

a photo of said plug may be of great help as 'two dots' could mean anything?by this do you mean pins/contacts?
basicly all you would need to do is bridge them.
but iam sure someone on here has done this in the past on an e30 and can help a bit beter than myself,but thats basicly how you get around/bypass a inhibitor switch. it has court many people out over the years ive been working on cars as to why the car wont turn over!
