drive shaft difference???

Is there a difference between 6pot and 4 pot rear drive shafts the side that goes to the diff.... the one came out had curved centre and the one I'm trying to put in is bait flatter ... any help would be great

As far as I am aware the only difference is those fitted with ABS to those that do not.

As above, the only difference in drive shafts is ABS & non ABS. There is no difference in 4 & 6 pots drive shafts

The ABS rings are on the outer joint closest to the trailing arm/hub.

Ok.... so why have i got two different drive shafts ..... everything the same expect the side that connects to the diff...

Do you mean on the car? Or you have two shafts, one of which might not be for an E30.

Three shafts connect to the diff;
Propshaft(1)
Driveshaft(2)

Be helpful to know just what the OP is refering to.

Sorry not made sence.. right i got a tourer with a m30 3.5... My rear drivers side drive shaft has broken from the part that joins the diff... now i got a e30 drive shaft that won't fit because the end is different from the one i've taken out... only the end to the diff... it don't fit in to the diff flange ...

@ sancez if the spare was same as broken one I wouldn't have a problem....
@ grrrmachine I been told its a m3 diff.
I would really like to get this thing on the road.. been to long sitting aside!!!

The question was what's the difference as my spare came off a e30...not why my driveshaft won't fit. its a bit obvious it won't fit if its not the same as original... so bit of a silly answer .... unless you know what one i need keep your comments to yourself... not very helpful

THe point is you've given us nothing to go on. There are no differences between driveshafts, and it's only after 12 posts that we find out you're not using a standard E30 diff. You've not provided any pics, so we're all just shooting in the dark.

Help us help you, and stick some pics up of what you've got if you want sensible answers.
