Hi Guys,
My throttle pedal has recently started to stick i.e. when pressing the throttle pedal and then releasing it the pedal does not return to it's original position, therefore, the engine rpm are higher than normal. I've cleaned out all the throttle body and checked it is working correctly but the pedal still gets stuck down. Do I need a new spring tensioner as the old one doesn't seem very strong or would it be something else?
Thanks,
Matt.

You need to remove the cable, soak it in WD40 and then 3 in 1 oil to get it running freely and then refit.
I did this with mine a few months ago and it makes a huge difference.
Getting the cable out of the bulkhead is tricky - just be patient. If the cable is frayed I don't think theyre that expensive new and a usable secondhand one should be easily available.

Someone posted up recently that a new throttle cable makes a real difference to throttle response.

If its not frayed or damaged you can get it as good as new by soaking it in lubeTopblag wrote:Someone posted up recently that a new throttle cable makes a real difference to throttle response.

Throttle cable is a Bowden type with a nylon liner.
Now whilst removing and lubricating will help, for a while, once the self-lubricating properties of the nylon liner have worn out, replacement with a new cable is the only satisfactory long-term answer.Especially given the 'hassle factor' of removing the bloody thing at the pedal end.

I suspect the bulkhead clip is meant to be a "single use" item judging how fiddly they are to remove - not sure I could get mine out again without busting it.

Eventually the inner wire will wear into the nylon on the tighter bends, making the cable operation stiff even if lubricated.daimlerman wrote:Throttle cable is a Bowden type with a nylon liner.

New cable is the way to go.
