well you already have an M42 gearbox so may aswell use that.
Engine will be about £250 on average then you probably have another couple of hundred quid in engine mounts, exhaust manifold, servo etc.

Exhaust is your biggest problem,if you are handy and good with a welder you can make your own. The custom built one is very good but also very expensive.

Ive got an m20 on mine and im contemplating gettin an m50. As im no expert im wondering
would it be a straight forward swap or would i need to change gearbox, wiring loom and get a
custom manifold etc. would i need custom mountings aswell and is it worth swapping?

I wouldn't replace an M42 with an M20, ever. Stick an M50 in it, 4 valves per cylinder is the right way to go!
Not in E30s any more :(

i have a m20,b20 prop if needed?
i'm just putting the m20 flywhhell clutch and starter on mine,it's chipped up and has a pan filter but i'm going to do all the easy mods on it before i decide where i'm going with mine.
i like good mpg combined with good speed.
a hard combination to achieve.the fly and clutch will give much better response [throttle] 8)

yes, all e30 boxes and props have the same fixtures and fittings so all are interchangeable within reason
