Use the linkage that came with the 2.8 box,
Dont know if there is a difference between the m40/m20 box mount bracket, but I used the m20 with no problems.

M50 Turbo!!!
I shall say no more
i took the cover off the car the other day and fitted the diff along with the shiny rear springs as the mot is due on the 14th of this month and i'd like the garden ornament mobile again ...thank fook the winter is nearly over and my car never floated away or drowned, living on the top of mount consett has a plus side i guess

I love this jack .

i still need to fit the front springs/dampers,ARB and these mondeo rear drop links that can be used as a straight replacement for e30 front droplinks ...the mondeo ones are rose jointed so can only be an upgrade/improvement over bmw stock parts .
ECP part number on the box ,i think they cost around £30

after fitting the diff i got the jump leads out and fired the bitch right up ....time to see if it will diff ... would berude not to innit
with it being a z3 3.07 torsen married to a 318is box i did wonder if it would pull away in 1st gear but it managed and with a dip of the clutch i'm side ways on the first attempt !
so i tried a burn quick burn out and needed a boot full and some clutch pedal action but it span up and left some 11's so i'm happy and the diff test went well
in e30 terms what ratio diff would be the same ? i'm guessing my top end is gonna be quite fast ?

i thought these dust covers were meant to be blue
Billy ones are plastic crap. Is it that time of year everyone are doing their shocks. 15 quid for them boots the rip offs
Snap!!!
the rip offs
The tits gave me the wrong nuts for the billy tops gave me course nuts and not fine. Total different car now!! with the B8's and H&R set up, brakes are better with the standard brakes, off set bushes next then the Eibach ARB
What spring pads you using fella?

i'm using the thinner rear pads [yes they have two sizes] i think maybe even m-tech ones if such a thing exists
i'm looking forward to fitting the front suspension but will probably do it after the mot ,then pay the rent on 1st of next month .
i need to change the h/brake , the ratchet has gave up ratcheting and the drivers side h/brake shoes need some adjustment and then i need to fit these .

and that should be a straight pass or i'm having an argument !

oh that's not bad at all, pulling the engine and fitting the e36 box can wait a bit longerBrianmoooore wrote:3.07/0.81 = 3.79magpie wrote:in e30 terms what ratio diff would be the same ?
or at least until i drive it regularly again and find out if both the old diff and the 318is box were making a racket .
either way the next time time i pull the engine, the e36 box is getting cable tied in ....it will be used at some point on my watch

Where on earth does Morat live?
The state of those springs!
i'm going to have the springs powder coated along with the rears when the car gets sorned end of next month ,this year gets an extension into the autumn after the shit start to the season i had .
Morat is from out in the sticks of Yorkshire dales way so the springs have been covered in horses shite all there lives,he's now running an lpg powered Jeep as the shite is getting deeper lol
All is not lost... Bilstein do shocks for a Jeeps too
It's good to see those parts live on. I loved driving FUCR but the rust was in nasty places like the base of the B pillars and I couldn't flog it on to some unsuspecting victim who'd probably snap it in half one day.
It turned out that FUCR had a blow over below the glass before it was served to me so it looked fine on the bay but was only going to be a short term fling. I decided to put the parts on and enjoy it while it lasted and got 5 years out of it.
Cheap motoring compared with my old Fiat Coupe 16v turbo which snapped its cambelt. .....
E30 Touring 0.35 cD - more slippery than prison soap

Praise the Lard... and pass the dripping!

I bought the cylinder head from your FUCR off Mick a few months back. It's going to be flatted off next week then will be going onto my car in about 6 weeks time (after my house extension is finished). I'll then be a few plastic trims short of a completed project!Morat wrote:Haha the Jeep is prehistoric but strong.
