i just received an email supposedly from paypal to an email account that i don't have paypal set up with the contents of the email are

November 30th, 2007,

PayPal Resolution Center: Your account is limited.
Your case ID for this reason is PP-0064310.


PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening
the accounts in our system. We recently reviewed your account, and we
need more information to help us provide you with secure service. Untill
we can collect this information, your access to sensitive account features
will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible,
and we apologize for the inconvenience.

This is done for your protection only you, the recipient of this email can
take the next step in the remove limitation process.

Why is my account access limited?

November 30th, 2007: We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by
a third party. Because protecting the security of your account is our primary
concern, we have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features.

as you can imagine i tryed the link it took me to an address that was fake

PayPal [update@localhost] just a heads up if any one gets it to be aware

If in doubt log on to your Paypal account and if there is no mention of this then its fake!
Engine conversions, Auto to manual conversions, parts, servicing etc etc... For anything e30 call 07718 901737

when you click the link from my thread it takes you to paypal but when you click on it in the email it takes you to

thats the thing spadge the email address they sent this to is not registered with paypal

Yes mate it would as its a scam.

Always type in the Paypal address or use the link from Ebay.
Do not use any other links!

i knew somthing wasnt right straight away spadge as i say i havent got a paypal acount with the email they sent it to and im sure i would know if i had one winkeye just thought id click on the link to see where it would go so i could give ppl a heads up. i didint even let it load

.Paypal have a thing where when they send you a (legit) email it will ALWAYS refer to you by name. If it doesn't say DEAR ANDREW SMITH for example, chances are its a scam.

:eek: ebay/paypal are getting really bad with their security just now..i for one will not be using them for the forseeable future..better safe than sorry

I accidently clicked a supposed e-mail link from Ebay to a dispute (I did have a dispute open) only to find it pointed to an item I new nothing about.
Next day I had a message from ebay saying my security had been breached and some one had requested a password change. Fortunately i use different passwords for everything so they couldn't log into my email to retrieve the new ebay password but i had to change all my passwords.
Never click on a link in an e-mail, just log in ebay/paypal as normal and then see if you've any messages and use different, non guessable passwords for ebay/paypal etc.

Is there any way to reclaim funds from paypal if youce been scammed? I'm £400 out of pocket on some wheels i bought (seller has disappeared)

Open a dispute on your paypal account, and if the seller doesn't reply with proof of postage then you should get your money back.
