i got bored the other day and worked out (mathematically.. yes im sad
) that a 327i with approx 200bhp and 200lb/ft, and had the kerb weight of the car reduced to about 900kgs, then it would do 0-60 in sub 6 seconds, like arround 5.5 seconds, this seems rather fast for very little effort, just wonderd if anyone thinks this would actually be possible

To get it to 900kg's you'd have to strip a hell of alot off the car.

not that av nowt beta to do but, i`ve had same sort of thoughts nd it is possible but you`d be driving a shell with not many panels so you get more wind resistance.

Youd probably save a fair bit of weight with Perspex plastic windows instead of glass!

wouldnt that be impossible to clean, and if it got scratched it would need replacing, but if it was gonna go that extreme it wont be that bad

Just stick the lump on a scotter, and watch it fly.

i think you will have your work cut out trying to cut an e30 down to 900kg"s.
ok for a track day special, but useless as a road car. better off buying an e34 m5.

I seem to remember that Duncan stripped his E30 out and still couldn't get it under 1,000kg's and he was pretty much driving a shell with running gear.
He also had problems with finding springs that allowed it to be low enough. Because it was so light, it sat quite high even on very low springs so there are lots of other things to think about if you're going ot the extremes.
