Feeling inspired by those working on their own cars, I'm going to tackle replacing my steering rack! :?
So looking for any recommendations, for a ball joint separator to separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle,

Thanks

What do you do for a living as some "trades" are eligible for a Halfords Trade Card?

Id suggest you use one you can add pressure by a screw rather than one you use a hammer.
This is better option

This one works
https://www.halfords.com/workshop-tools ... arate-fork

But you should be able to separate with a good strike to the lower bracket on the strut.

Excellent thank you. I didn't like the thought of using the fork approach.

With the fork there is a higher chance you will damage the rubber boot on the TRE. If you are replacing the TRE then - no problem - if not, best to avoid this method.

As above, a hard smack on the lower bracket of the strut should set the TRE free. No need for these tools

Yeah, I didn't like the look of the fork, just seems too brutal, but will try the hard smack approach :thumb:
